**I generally do not take on Personal / Non- Celebrity (ie. your wife, boyfriend, father, etc) portrait commissions. Portrait commissions take time and effort, more so than my typical work and process.  These people are important to you and I want to make sure they get my due diligence. As such, single person portraits will be done on paper at least 9x12 in size and will have up to a 25% fee (for additional studies and painting preparation).  If this is for a special occasion please allow at least 30 days or more for creation and delivery.

"Simple"

This Ink and/or  2- 3 tone watercolor (occasionally with a splash of another color) is generally a straight forward head or body shot. Single character only.  Nice and simple watercolors with a straightforward touch of class.

7x10, 6x12 - $100

9x12 - $180

"Great"

This commission typically has up to 6 different colors which allows me to tackle pretty much any color a character needs.

Usually bust to 3/4 characters will be painted.  Loose backgrounds. I'll take some extra time to focus on a few key elements of the character, possibly hint at some simple backgrounds.

7x10, 6x12 - $180

9x12 - $300

+$40 for additional character. Maxmimum 2 Total characters.

"Awesome"

Using a Full Color Palette (up to 20 colors) gives me more tools to play and go a little crazy.  I take a little more time with these and tend to be more complex.   I'll use more tools at my disposal and give it a bit of punch and flare and let's me have more fun with the piece.

7x10 - $250*

9x12 - $360*

10x14 - $500

*Smaller sizes only available pre-convention.

Additional characters available for an additional $60. Up to 4 characters depending on size.

Blank Comic Cover Commissions

Paper quality of blank covers are variable and has a variable effect on the final product.

These are ideally painted in studio due to the random quality of the cover paper.  Blank cover commissions may use any number of mediums from watercolor, gouache, inks and even acrylics. Pieces are generally half-figure and up.

Professional Cover Quality Studio Commissions

Take off the reigns and let me go a little crazy.

Ready for the best of the best? Cover quality Studio Commissions take a longer time.  Some have taken over 40 hours to complete.  These are larger pieces with a higher focus to detail and process that may take a much larger amount of time, consideration, materials, and preparation. Only the highest quality papers and paints will be used.  All studio commissions start with sketches and studies for you to choose from.  Once you select one, that's where the fun begins.

Prices start at $750 generally single character with backgrounds.

Upgrade to Fabriano's Artistico 300 lb paper for $50.

Sizes start at 10"x14" and range to 4'x 2'

All Studio Commissions will be painted on hand stretched on wooden frames with Arches 140 # Hot Press or a thick 300# loose Fabriano Hot Press Paper (real durable thick paper).  Fabriano's Artistico papers are 100% cotton and are acid-free/pH neutral and chlorine-free.  The paper is mould-made using cotton balls instead of stretched and beaten cotton fibers like other brands. This creates a more consistent and even water absorption over the surface, and makes it more strong and durable to withstand scrubbing, erasing, and all common watercolor techniques.

Studio Commissions are painted with a 50+ color watercolor palette and may include touches of gouache and acrylic as needed.  Custom or larger sizes available upon request. Some requests at this level may require weeks if not months.  Roll over the Studio examples below. If a deadline is needed, please contact and confirm.

Silver Surfer
$550

This 12x16 Silver Surfer piece took a much more complex approach to his chrome.   Most renders of the Surfer are in grey or blue tones.  Here I was able to focus on the reflections of the myriad of colors found in space.

I can only do the color studies and references to attempt complexity in my studio.

Zelda & Link
$1600

This 18x26 Legend of Zelda was painted on hand stretched cotton paper. The finer details of the armor, colors of the cloth and focus on lighting all add to the complexity of this piece that was painted over several months

The luminence was achieved after color tests and creating some digital color study references.

Poison Ivy
$2000

This 4'x2' Poison Ivy watercolor was painted on 140# (300 gsm) Arches hot press cotton. Painting this large usually requires a smaller study piece to make sure key colors and proportions are maintained appropriately.

Artwork can be sized to any custom request.
